“Commenting on someone’s weight as a conversation starter just completely ends it.” -Megan Young
Why is that every time we meet our old friends, old pal, old colleagues, neighbors, classmates or someone we used to know. The first thing that they will say to you is “Hey you look fat, you should lose weight” or You’re so skinny, you should eat more.” And when we post a photos on Facebook or Instagram they will also start the comment about it. They will say “you’re so fat, what happened to you?” Or worse they will tell you that you look like a pig.” Seriously?!
Is it really hard to say or ask someone if she is okay and how is she doing?
Why don’t we start the conversation with “Hey It’s nice to see you! How are you?” Or why don’t we comment like “You look great. Nice picture or I hope you’re okay.” Don’t click that damn like button if you will just say something that isn’t nice. You know why? You will only hurt her. You will take away all her confidence about herself . She will think that’s she’s ugly and she will be unproud of herself.
“This isn’t just about beauty. When we limit what is allowed to be called beautiful, we also limit who is allowed to feel confident, empowered, important, sexy, brave and proud”.
It is okay to be concerned about someone’s health or appearances but you don’t have to be rude. You don’t have to say bad things about her.
“You don’t have to encourage people to take care of their body by telling them to hate it.”-Laci Green
I used to do that before commenting on someone’s weight. But I’ve learned my lesson. I did it to someone, didn’t realize that I’d hurt her. And when someone did the same thing to me. I was hurt. I told myself “So this is really how it feels like to be body shamed.“Bashing someone for their body type is not okay.”
Remember body shaming is bullying.
“Is fat really the worst thing a human being can be? Is fat worse than vindictive, jealous, shallow, vain, boring, evil, or cruel? Not to me.”- J.K Rowling.
“We are beautiful no matter what they say. “ I know it’s easy to say but to be honest it is really hard to accept yourself if the people surrounds you make you look like unattractive.
But one thing I’ve learned about beauty is that. . .
“Beauty doesn’t have weight limit. We are more than the way we look.”
No matter what strangers or love ones says, no matter what people think about our body as long as we accept it, embrace it and love it you will realize that “it is the most amazing thing you will ever own.”
To myself and to all ladies and gentlemen out there.
“Be proud of who we are, and not ashamed of how someone else sees us.”
Because…
“Our worth is not measured by the size of our waist.”
